It's an interesting piece on io9, "A Timeline of Science Fiction Inventions: Weapons, Warfare and Security." Perhaps I missed it or it just wasn't showcased by io9, but I'm disappointed by the absence of orbital weapons...C'mon now, where's the bounce laser ABM system from Spies Like Us, the SOL from Akira and the SOLG from Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War (pictured)?
