Kiss a live-action look at spectacularly dystopian future goodbye. The live action remake of manga classic Akira is dead. Sad: We so wanted to see The Capsules, or at least the jacket, in real life.

Sorry io9, but this is NOT sad news. All indications pointed to this project being a turd of EPIC FAIL.

For starters, the setting was going to be "Neo-New York" instead of "Neo-Tokyo" per the manga by Katsuhiro Otomo, which obviates a fair portion of the character and plot elements. Thus, by its now stillborn status, it becomes WIN.

If Hollyweird isn't willing to do it right, they shouldn't do it at all.
