Breakfast Granola for 3/2/11

Aria Giovanni isn't usually wearing this much clothing. On a damp and blustery Wednesday, this is an office perq I'd like to find on my desk.

Miss Reef 2011?

Holy Taco is claiming images from Miss Reef 2011, but I know darn well that many of them are from years past.

However, I don't recall seeing this particular one, so perhaps at least a few are.

Snow is not your friend

epic fail photos - Snow Reporting FAIL gifAnd neither are some humans, as this hapless reporter from Traverse City, MI -- snowhole to end all snowholes -- might be able to tell you. If she weren't buried under cold, wet death.

Made in Ireland

FMD Jack Naples fished out more Rubberbandits and this sweet little ditty called "I Wanna Fight Your Father."

The problem with Gawker

It used to be that I had a handful of Gawker Media sites to faithfully visit, and often post articles here in The Mine; Jalopnik, io9, Lifehacker, Kotaku were among the list of "Daily Patrol" bookmarks.

But then they recently did a redesign of all of their sites, and my experiences with those sites turned, quite frankly, to utter and absolute shit. No longer could I simply scroll down through a day or so of posts -- or further, if I wanted -- and easily select something interesting to share here in The Mine. Instead, there's a shitty Flash interface that includes a shitty sidebar of selected stories into shitty GM-decided categories. Because of this, there's no way I can easily tell the chronology of posts; there's only what GM feeds me, including ads. And oh, the ads...

They're really, really prominent now. Before, ads were beautifully insidious and looked like other articles. Instead, ads now throb into view and chop up the look of the sites. I'm surprised GM doesn't have them SCREAM on rollover.

In short, unless one of the GM sites has an exceptional article I happen upon, don't count on them being back here anytime soon. It's sad, really. The content is good, but the presentation makes it fucked up to even chew on, much less attempt to digest.

Strangers

A song I hadn't yet heard from the inimitable Yoko Kanno, which makes sense because it's from the also inimitable, but very forgettable, Wolf's Rain. Beautiful soundtrack, weird anime.

Call me a brassiere...

...because I support breasts.

Our buddy Coco Austin also enjoys breasts enough to host another edition of "Titty Tuesday" on her Twitter.

Haters gonna hate

Why do some people have to be all in your bowl AND judgmental while they're at it? Like Xzibit would tell you: "Congratulate, because anything else will be seen as hate."

Fun with the neighbors!

Especially if those neighbors are North Koreans...

Breakfast Granola for 2/21/11

It's Presidents Day, but I still have to mine granola. Ugh, FML.

Anyway, here's more that might be strange to digest: David E. Kelly is going to be producing a Wonder Woman television series with Adrianne Palicki as the titular heroine; Wikipedia says:
The plot is described as "a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman -- aka Diana Prince -- is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life."
Not at all awe-inspiring storywise, but AP is a blue-eyed brunette, 5' 11", and both a trackstar AND almost-homecoming queen in high school. Good physical creds; let's see how it pans out.
